BOSSE– Board of Open Schooling and Skill Education, Sikkim is an Open School Board to cater to the varied academic needs of the students’ upto pre-degree level including Secondary and Senior Secondary and Skills & Vocational education. BOSSE is on the approved board list of ‘NIOS LIST OF APPROVED BOARDS IN INDIA.’
The Board of Open Schooling & Skill Education, Sikkim Act 2020 passed on 21-9-2020 by the Sikkim Legislative Assembly stated under act No 14 of 2020.
Board of Open Schooling and Skill Education aims to uplift and strengthen schooling education and create pathways to higher studies across the nation through different modes of learning. With flexible education system, combining academic and vocational subjects, the mission is the universalization of education and establishing great equality and justice in society.

- BOSSE has been established under the Act No. 14 of 2020 by Govt. of Sikkim.

- Digital support through SWAYAM platform, transfer of credits up to two subjects passed from other boards and employment-oriented vocational courses.
- BOSSE offers education through printed materials, audio and video programmes. The study material is made available in English and other regional languages.
- BOSSE offers four subjects- Hindi,English, Bengali and Nepali in Secondary Level – Group A. And five subjects- Mathematics, Science & Technology, Social Science, Economics and Business Studies in Secondary Level – Group B.
- BOSSE offers four subjects- Hindi, English, Bengali and Nepali in Senior Secondary Level – Group A. Seven subjects- Mathematics, Home Science, Psychology, Geography, Economics, Business Studies and Data Entry Operations in Senior Secondary Level – Group B.Physics and History in Senior Secondary Level – Group C.Chemistry and Political Science in Senior Secondary Level – Group D. Biology, Accountancy and Law in Senior Secondary Level – Group E. Computer Science, Sociology and Tourism in Senior Secondary Level – Group F.
- BOSSE offers skilled and vocational courses like Laundry Services, Tour & Travel, House Keeping and Hotel Front Office Operation.
Admission Procedure and Required Documents Lists:
Students may take direct admission through admission centers of BOSSE. Learners who seek admission in BOSSE for Secondary / Sr. Secondary / Skill and Vocation education; are required to submit original scanned colour copy of below documents while registering for the admission.
- Valid Identity Proof (Adhaar card / passport / ration card/ pan card)
- Valid Proof of Date of Birth (Passport/ school leaving certificate / transfer certificate/ adhaar card on which DOB is to be mentioned)
- Valid Proof of Residence
- Class 9th marksheet in case of secondary courses.
- Class X marksheet in case of senior secondary courses.
- Self attested copy of caste certificate in case of SC/ST/OBC
- Disability certificate (in case of leaner is having any kind of disability)
After verification of submitted documents along with payable fees structure; a unique registration number is issued to the learner.
Eligible to Apply
After successful passing your examination from The Board of Open Schooling & Skill Education; learners are eligible to apply to any of the Govt. jobs and may continue with their higher education from any of the recognized higher institutions. Certificate awarded by BOSSE is equivalent to that of provided by CBSE / ICSE/ NIOS or by any other state recognized boards.
